PETRESA CANADA
A joint venture between CEPSA (51%), through
its affiliate PETRESA, and Société
Generale de Financement du Quebec (49%), PETRESA CANADA
is located in the Industrial complex of Bécancour (Quebec)
where it produces Linear Alkylbenzene (LAB), a raw material
predominantly used as the active cleaning agent in biodegradable
household and industrial detergents.
Along with the production capacity of this plant, 120,000 metric
tons per year, PETRESA’s other plants
in Brazil and Spain also produce 450,000 metric tons per year,
placing the company among the top two global producers of this
detergent precursor.

INTERQUISA CANADA
Located in the industrial area of Montreal East, is a venture
between CEPSA (51%), though its affiliate INTERQUISA,
and Société Generale de Financement du Quebec
(SGF, 49%).
The plant is capable of producing over 500,000 metric tons of
Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA), the raw material used in making
different types of polyester for the manufacturing of textile
fibers, powder paints, PET bottles and containers, etc.
With the start up of this new plant in 2003, INTERQUISA
will become the second leading supplier of PTA worldwide.
