Argelia

CEPSA carries out oil exploration and production activities in Algeria, with two oilfields (RKF and OURHOUD), which make up the core of this activity, which began in the 1980s. Since 2002, in the same country, CEPSA also has a share in gas exploration blocks.

Block 406 A

CEPSA operates block 406A in partnership with Sonatrach (Algerian national oil and gas company), in the Algerian Sahara, under a production sharing agreement. It exploits two oilfields: RKF and OURHOUD.

  • RKF oilfield: In operation since 1996, currently its extraction rate is 20,000 barrels of oil per day.
  • OURHOUD oilfield: The development of the oilfield and its exploration are being carried out in the context of a joint operation between CEPSA (currently the partner with the biggest share at 39.76%) and Sonatrach, Anadarko and Burlington Resources. In terms of area, OURHOUD is one of the biggest oilfields in Algeria, representing 17% of the country¿s total production, with an extraction rate of 230,000 barrels per day.

TIMIMOUN Block

CEPSA, jointly with TOTAL (15%/85%, respectively), is participating in exploration activities at blocks 325A and 329 in the Timimoun Basin, situated in the southwest of the Sahara. The area measure 13,250 kilometres squared and is situated in the southwest of the country, an area which has numerous gas fields.
