CEPSA has operated in the energy sector since 1929, when it was set up as the first private oil company in Spain.

Compañía Española de Petróleos, S.A. is set up. First private oil company.

CEPSA Marine Fuels (CMF) began operating, founded to expand the international activity of supplying fuels to ships.

On 1 July, CEPSA Química was founded, establishing a single operations department and practical improvements between plants.

CEPSA received permission from the Algerian authorities to develop the gas field at Timimoun. The field is expected to commence production towards the end of 2014, producing 5 million m3 per day.

In October, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I inaugurated the Middle Distillate Production Capacity Expansion at La Rábida refinery in Huelva. This is the biggest investment CEPSA has ever undertaken, with the exception of the construction of its three refineries.

MEDGAZ start-up, project in which CEPSA participates with 20% stake.

IPIC adquired 100% of CEPSA. The Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Company launched Public Takeover Bid on 100% of CEPSA’s Share Capital, approved by the company’s Board of Directors’ meeting held on August, 2. IPIC became the only owner of CEPSA, which is de-listed from Spanish stock exchanges. Santiago Bergareche is appointed as the company’s Chairman and H.E. Khadem Al Qubaisi as Vice Chairman and CEO.
