On December 11, 1975, Carlos Pérez de Bricio was named Minister of Industry during the first Government formed under the Monarchy, headed by Carlos Arias Navarro, and was confirmed in his office under the Presidency of Adolfo Suarez in July 1976, resigning a year later on July 5, 1977. From April to July 1977 he became Acting Minister of Public Works, succeeding Leopoldo Calvo Sotelo.
On September 22, 1977, the first Governing Board of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE) was created and Mr. Pérez de Bricio has been an active member since that time, representing the metal industry. He was the founder and Chairman of CONFEMETAL, the Spanish Association of Companies in the Metal Sector until May 2011.
Within the CEOE, he was elected as one of its Vice Chairmen in September 1981 for a three-year term, being re-elected thereafter for successive terms until 2010, when he was named Honorary Vice Chairman of the organization.
During this period, he was appointed Chairman of the state-owned company Sodiex, a position he held until early 1983. In May 1984, he was elected as one of the three Vice Chairmen of the CEOE under the new team headed by its Chairman, José Maria Cuevas, and was re-elected to this position at the general assemblies of May 1987 and 1990 and again in April 1994.
In March 1991, while occupying the offices of Chairman of CONFEMETAL, Vice Chairman of the CEOE and Chairman of Celulosas de Asturias, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of CEPSA, the oil company on whose Board he was already serving.
When Alfonso Escámez succeeded Luis Magaña as Chairman of CEPSA, Mr. Pérez de Bricio became Executive Vice Chairman on March 27, 1996. Some months later, on May 8th, with the death of Luis Magaña, Pérez de Bricio was appointed Chairman and CEO, a position he held until December 2006, when Dominique de Riberolles took over.
Mr. Al Qubaisi has a degree in Economics and began his career as a financial analyst for the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). Subsequently he joined the Investment Management Division of IPIC. He is currently Managing Director of IPIC, Chairman of Aabar Investments, National Central Cooling Company, Abu Dhabi National Takaful Company, I-Media Newspaper, Hyundai Oilbank Co. Ltd. and Falcon Private Bank as well as Vice Chairman of Abu Dhabi Polymers Co. Ltd. He also serves on the Boards of Directors of First Gulf Bank, Emirates Investment Authority and Aldar Properties. He was appointed Vice Chairman to CEPSA´s Board in October 2009 and CEO by resolution of the Board of Directors on August 2, 2011. Mr. Al Qubaisi was appointed Chairman of the Board at the meeting of this body held on September 27, 2011.
Santiago Bergareche Busquet has a degree in Economics and Law from the University of Deusto (Bilbao). Throughout his professional career, he has held the highest-ranking executive positions in two major Spanish corporations: BBVA and the Ferrovial Group. While working at BBVA, he occupied various managerial positions until becoming General Manager and a member of the Executive Management Committee. He was also appointed Chairman of Metrovacesa, a company in which BBVA was a shareholder at that time. Subsequently, and following the acquisition of the construction company Agromán by the Ferrovial Group, he was named Chairman of the Board of Directors of Agromán and later on became Chairman of Ferrovial, and subsequently its Chief Executive Officer. After having completed his executive duties in this corporation, he is now an independent Vice Chairman on the Board of the Ferrovial Group, a Director on the Boards of Vocento, and non-executive Chairman of the Board of Dinamia. He was appointed non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of CEPSA in June 2008.
HRH Carlos de Borbón-Dos Sicilias has a degree in Law. In 1964 he became Chairman of Dehesa de la Higuera, S.A., a position he still holds. He was appointed an advisor for Spain for the Mexican oil company PEMEX until 1984 and in the same year, he was elected to the Board of Directors of PETRESA, a subsidiary of CEPSA. He is a member of the Board of the Banesto Cultural Foundation and currently serves on the Boards of Inmobiliaria Urbis, Thyssenkrupp, Iberpistas, Telvent. He is also Chairman of the Royal Board of the Naval Museum. His appointment to CEPSA´s Board of Directors took place in April 1987.
Murtadha Al Hashmi is a graduate in Accounting and Information Systems from Al Ain University in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In 1989, he joined the National Bank of Abu Dhabi in the Budgeting and Financial Control Department. In 1993 he moved to International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) as an assistant Finance Manager and later he became Finance Manager overseeing the planning, implementation and supervision of the activities of the Finance Division. Subsequently, he was promoted to Finance & Accounts Director. He was appointed to CEPSA´s Board of Directors in September 2005.
Mr. Al Husseiny has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Louisiana State University (USA) and is a Certified Public Accountant by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy. He started out his career as a Senior Manager in Humphrey & Associates in Houston and went on to become Chief Financial Officer for a number of leading energy and industrial companies in Oman, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Aabar Investments PJSC in May 2009, a position he currently holds. Mr. Al-Husseiny serves on the Boards of Directors of Falcon Private Bank, Mercedes GP, Aabar Europe Holdings GmbH, Virgin Galactic and Xojet. He was appointed to CEPSA’s Board in August 2011.
