Energy efficiency constitutes a basic pillar of the CEPSA strategy, which has a dual effect on the Company, reducing costs and saving energy, and on the environment, reducing the impact on the environment.

Resource consumption and emission reduction Courses of action

CEPSA has been implementing energy saving and efficiency since the 1970s, involving:

  • The reduction of the use of raw materials.
  • The reduction of emissions into the atmosphere.
  • Optimising all production processes.

As such, the Company’s main courses of action are focussed upon:

  • A commitment to combined-cycle cogeneration.
  • The gradual substitution of fuel oil by gas.
  • The reduction of energy losses through steam.
  • An increase in the production of medium distillates.
  • The addition of ETBE (Ethyl tert-butyl ether) to petrol and biodiesel to diesel.
