- Compañía Española de Petróleos, S.A. is set up. First private oil company.
- 1930

- First Spanish refinery: Tenerife. First supplier of marine fuel (bunker).
- 1950

- First Spanish producer of lubricants.
- 1954

- First platforming unit in Spain. (Platforming is a process for enhancing the quality of gasoline.) First Spanish producer of aromatic petrochemical products.
- 1969

- Second refinery: Gibraltar. One of the most important petrochemical complexes in Europe.
- 1970

- Start of collaboration with leading multinationals in the petrochemical industry.
- 1980

- Network of branches and subsidiary marketing companies in Spain and other European countries.
- 1984/1987

- The petrochemical subsidiaries PETRESA and INTERQUISA become 100% CEPSA-owned.
- 1988

- IPIC joins shareholding body.
- 1990

- Elf Aquitaine joins shareholding body.

- Acquisition of ERTOIL and third refinery: La Rábida.
- 1992

- Purchase of 25% of CAMPSA commercial assets.
- 1994

- Acquisition of ERTISA. Discovery of crude oil in Algeria.

- First industrial plant in North America: PETRESA Canada, Inc.
- 1996

- Extraction of crude begins in Algeria. Sale of propane and butane to final consumers.
- 1997

- Complete merger of ERTOIL into CEPSA.
- 1998

- New butane cylinder of stainless steel, safer and with only half the weight of the traditional cylinder.
- 1999

- PETRESA (100% CEPSA) adquiere DETEN, compañía brasileña productora de alquilbenceno lineal (LAB).
- 2000

- CEPSA, pioneer in the marketing of butane cylinders via its network of service stations.
- 2001

- Construction begins on second petrochemical facility in Canada: INTERQUISA Canada Inc.
- 2002

- MEDGAZ Project: technical feasibility of new Algerian-European gas pipeline via Spain confirmed. Second oil field in Algeria, OURHOUD, placed on stream.
- 2005

- CEPSA Marine Fuels (CMF) began operating, founded to expand the international activity of supplying fuels to ships.
- 2008

- On 1 July, CEPSA Química was founded, establishing a single operations department and practical improvements between plants.
