The evaluation highlights the high Safety and Ethical Commitment standards
Cepsa's chemical plant in Palos de la Frontera has successfully passed the TfS (Together for Sustainability) Sustainability Audit. The evaluation, which addressed issues such as the Company's ethical commitment, was carried out at the request of one of our most important phenol and acetone clients, Covestro, formerly Bayer Material Science.
Together for Sustainability was created in 2011 through an initiative by the most important European chemical companies (BASF, Bayer, Evonik, Lanxess, Henkel and Solvay Belgium) with the aim of guaranteeing sustainability and commitment to the highest standards of Respect for Human Rights, Safety at Work and Facilities, Environmental Protection, Fair Trade, Efficient Use of Resources, Ethical Commitment, etc., both in carrying out their activities and in the supply chain.
Cepsa's Petrochemical unit plays a very important role as a stable supplier of products to both the founding companies and many other current TfS members.
The audit was carried out by SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance), an independent third party approved and authorized by the members of TfS to carry out this type of analysis, and was attended by Cepsa professionals from the work centers of San Roque, Palos and Madrid who provide services to the different areas audited.
The audit was completed without any non-conformities or improvement proposals from the auditor, who also highlighted the quality of the processes and the commitment of the Company's professionals, as well as the high Safety and Ethical Commitment standards.
Cepsa's chemical plant in Palos de la Frontera, which has been operating for more than 40 years, is closely integrated with the La Rábida refinery and is the world's leading producer of cumene and the second largest producer of phenol. Phenol is a product used to manufacture engineering and pharmaceutical plastics, as well as a host of other applications.
