The director of Cepsa in the Canary Islands, José Manuel Fernández Sabugo, participated as a guest in the XII Virtual Meeting of the Neighborhood Associations of the Canary Islands, an associative movement made up of more than 100 neighborhood associations and federations from the 8 islands, which emerged from the Neighborhood Associations Meeting held in June 2019, to share experiences and address the challenges currently facing the neighborhood associations.

In addition to explaining Cepsa's role as a strategic energy supplier at the service of the society and development of the Canary Islands, Fernández Sabugo engaged in a lively discussion with representatives of the local associations and federations, who gathered remotely, in order to respond to their concerns and to exchange opinions.

During his speech, he also explained the current situation of the Canarian energy model, outlined Cepsa's social and economic contribution to the Islands, both current and historical, and offered data on the peculiarities of the energy model and the consumption of oil products in the Archipelago, and addressed the future challenges that the Canary Islands face with regard to energy transition.

The presentation generated great interest among the attendees, who raised several issues, many of them related to the social action undertaken by the energy company through the Fundación Cepsa. They were interested in the series of actions carried out by the foundation during the COVID-19 pandemic aimed at contributing to alleviate the social situation caused by the health crisis on the Islands.

The speech by Cepsa's director in the Canary Islands resulted from the invitation offered by the Aguere Federation of Neighborhood Associations and two members of the Cepsa-Santa Cruz Liaison Committee, Enrique Plasencia, member of the ConRed project and the Chapatal Neighborhood Association, and Moisés Rodríguez, spokesman of the Student Council of the University of La Laguna, and was developed within a framework that promotes citizen participation and collaboration through the union of neighborhood associations.

In addition to the director of Cepsa in the Canary Islands, the XII Digital Meeting of the Neighborhood Associations of the Canary Islands was attended by representatives of 18 neighborhood associations and FAV Aguere; the Governing Council of the University of La Laguna; Proyectos Medioambientales Marinos - Promenar (Marine Environmental Projects); the Instituto Canario de Animación Social - ICAS (Canary Islands Institute of Social Animation); the Student Council of the University of La Laguna; Union San Felipe and Radio Ecca, as well as two technicians from the Department of Citizen Participation of La Oliva-Fuerteventura.

With Cepsa's active participation in this forum, the company wishes to strengthen ties with citizens and especially with the neighborhood movements that participate more and more actively in decision-making and actions that have an impact on the development of their communities.
