second metaxylene at san roque project
We started up the second metaxylene unit at Cepsa’s site in San Roque in October 2018. This was an important milestone in the company’s industrial projects and also saw the introduction of the latest advances in this production process.
HOW DID WE DO IT?
The new unit is up and running following an investment by Cepsa of around €70 million, and thanks to the work and dedication of teams from the Construction, Engineering and Operations departments. They assured the work was carried out on time and in budget.
Sorbex-2 will produce 150 tons a day of high purity metaxylene, which is used as a raw material in the production of polymers and plastics. The production is in addition to the 210 tons a day from the Sorbex-1 unit, which has been operating since 2008.
