H.E. Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy since March 2013, was appointed a Board Member and Managing Director of International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) in April 2015 and a Board member of Mubadala Investment Company in January 2017. He has held multiple high-ranking positions in government, with numerous achievements in the service of his country, as well as in the private sector, where he was Deputy CEO and Senior Vice President of Business Development of Mubadala Petroleum and Director of Production and Engineering Facilities, and subsequently Chief Executive Officer, of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) until 2007. H.E. Al Mazrouei also worked from 2004-2005 in Shell Global in the Netherlands, taking part in a number of key international oil and gas projects in Nigeria, the North Sea, Brunei and the Netherlands.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Boards of Directors of the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA), Mubadala Petroleum Co and Emirates Liquefied Gas Co; Member of the Higher Advisory Committee of the Supreme Petroleum Council; Member of the Boards of Directors of the Petroleum Development Co and Dolphin Energy Co; and Member of the Audit Committee of ADNOC. He will take the presidency seat from January for the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
H.E. Al Mazrouei graduated in 1996 from the University of Tulsa (USA) with a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering.
