- The San Roque and Palos Cepsa industrial centers are taking part in this initiative
- In addition to visits to different companies, this program, promoted by the European Commission, addresses the key challenges faced by industry
Cepsa is taking part in the European Union’s Industry Open Doors initiative, together with other companies from the sector. It has received university students on two special days at the energy industry sites of San Roque (Cadiz) and Palos de la Frontera (Huelva).
The open days took place on March 20, 21 at the San Roque and Palos plants respectively. Students from the University of Cadiz (UCA) and the University of Huelva (UHU) learned from Cepsa professionals about the day-to-day work of the refineries, the products they sell and how they affect citizens’ daily lives. After the theoretical presentation, the students toured the refineries’ installations for a close-up view of how they work and what the different units look like.
This initiative forms part of the EU Industry Days 2019, which aim to address the key challenges of industry, such as sustainability, digitization, investment and globalization. The main event took place in Brussels on 5 and 6 of February, with the participation of 1,800 people from all over Europe, including representatives of companies, labor unions and public authorities. The initiative also includes local events to be held during March, such as the open days at the refineries.

Cepsa Open Days
Meanwhile, Cepsa already has its own Open Days program for society to visit its energy industry centers, an exercise in transparency designed to make it better known in the surrounding areas, especially with regard to its management model, based on safety and the environment, but also its production processes and how the final result will improve citizens’ lives.
This program allows the company to inform society of the actions it takes with regard to corporate responsibility, especially in the surrounding population centers, and the values of safety, leadership, teamwork, sustainability and solidarity which guide its activity.
In this respect, the San Roque and Palos Cepsa industrial centers carried out their annual Open Doors Days last week and, thanks to this initiative and other educational visits organized by the Company, an average of 8,000 people are getting to know Cepsa's facilities in Andalusia each year.
