We strive to improve the efficiency of our centers and generate new forms of sustainable energy. Thus we can adopt an energy model that respects the environment and become a total energy company.
CIRCULAR ECONOMY
At Cepsa we have a production and consumption model based on making the most of byproducts and energy. We are always striving to find new synergies between our businesses and other companies. By doing so, we are contributing to the Circular Economy.
Our production processes use natural resources and energy efficiently, thus minimizing the environmental impact of our activity. This is evidenced by the fact that our largest facilities in Spain have EMAS certification.
In order to promote responsible consumption, we continue to make progress in analyzing the life cycle of our products (EPD) and our carbon footprint, as well as increasing the number of products we are putting on the market that are eco-labeled.
We are managing our waste more efficiently by applying the hierarchy as set out in the relevant regulations. We recycle any waste materials that can be reused, delivering it to authorized waste managers so that it can be used as alternative fuels. When this waste can no longer be reused, it is taken to specific landfills according to its category.
Consumption and production are therefore reduced, and our impact on the environment becomes smaller and smaller.
We are working to incorporate more raw materials into our production processes that are recyclable, always prioritizing the protection of human health and the environment. In this way, we are making progress in reducing our use of natural resources.
Whenever we design a new project we expand our existing facilities. In doing so, we aim to practice responsible water use: reuse of water from processes, reduction of water use in production, wastewater recovery and the use of water from alternative sources, such as sea water rather than fresh water.
Furthermore, Cepsa has been participating in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for the past two years, disclosing exhaustive data on the company's water use, as well as our management strategies and the configuration of the projects we carry out.
