Winner: HMY Group
HMY Group, specialized in engineering, manufacturing and assembly of furniture for the retail sector, won the fifth edition of wePioneer.
This award recognizes the project: "Camino hacia la descarbonización, ecodiseñando el retail" (Road to decarbonization, ecodesigning retail) whose aim is to promote constant innovation in its products and services to minimize their environmental impact during their life cycle, under the approach of ecodesign and performance improvement.
Second prize: Baker Hughes
Baker Hughes took second place for the project: "All In. Carbon Out - reduction of CO2 emissions through LIFESPANTM". An initiative that consists of reducing carbon emissions through a digital tool. Specifically, it allows to evaluate each crude oil and crude oil blend, immediately reporting its stability prediction, as well as its fouling potential (LSCITM).
As a result, crude oils and their blends in tanks, which are finally processed and distilled, generate less fouling in equipment and furnaces, optimizing energy consumption and reducing CO2 emissions in the energy parks.
Third prize: ITURRI
This company, which specializes in manufacturing garments, equipment and vehicles for industrial safety and protection, emergencies, defense and health, received an award for an innovative project that ITURRI uses to reduce the carbon footprint in the use of safety helmets.
This is achieved be means of two processes. On the one hand, by recycling and reusing helmet materials after the end of their useful life. On the other hand, by manufacturing new helmets in a sustainable way, whose origin is biological, since they are made of biopolymers and wood fibers.
A jury comprising experts evaluated all the projects taking into account criteria such as their originality, viability, contribution to society, and the market opportunities they offer.
Moreover, other aspects such as respect for the environment, using new technologies, job creation, and developing the community where the project is carried out received positive assessments.
