We work with new reactors and new technologies to increase the efficiency, sustainability, and safety of the Gibraltar-San Roque Energy Park.
How did we do it?
The Platforming unit, which has been operating since the energy park’s start-up, produces aromatic compounds that serve as raw materials for the energetic industry. Their reactors reached the end of their useful life and we are replacing them with others with cutting-edge technology that will allow the safe operation of the installations during the coming decades.
We have also increased the efficiency of the Platforming process. To that end, we installed a new load/effluent exchanger with Packinox technology that reduces the energy required and greenhouse gas emissions.
The result
The Platforming Revamping project of the Gibraltar-San Roque Energy Park will immediately increase safety, as well as reduce CO2 emissions by 16ktm/year. In addition, it will allow the production to increase in the future from 33,000 bpd to 40,000 bpd.
This project is part of CEPSA’s strategy to focus on the generation of higher value-added products within our refineries, to increase efficiency and safety, and to reduce environmental impact.
